Transformers Universe 2.0 Classics Hound + Ravage
Feb 28

Here is one of the newer Transformer releases in the Universe 2.0 Classics line, Hound and Ravage.
As TF aficionados know already know, Hound was one of the mainstays of the classics TF cartoon and toy line. Once a military jeep, hound has since had relatively few incarnations, of note was the Alternators / Binaltech line that saw Hound as a modern Jeep that transformed to a very cool robot mode.
This review is about Hounds latest remake from the Universe 2.0 Classics line.
Hound now comes as a deluxe class Transformer who is packaged in his alt mode. His alt mode this time around is a stylized military jeep which is reminiscent of his original design way back in the 80’s sans the die cast parts. Above as you can see, he is packed in with a small surprise, the Classics 2.0 representation of Soundwave’s loyal minion Ravage!

Let’s get things started off with hound. In his alt mode, you can see that he comes as a stylized jeep that has some very cool lines; he comes in a dull military green color with some blacks and very little whites. He’s rather nicely detailed and comes with seats as well as a detailed dash board.

Hound’s underside while in alt mode is surprisingly clean! Barely any visible robot kibble, I mean, of course it looks nothing like the underside of a jeep, but at least you don’t see the head, fists or any other discernable humanoid feature. So, he cleans up quite nicely as a jeep! Probably one of the better classics alt modes since Bumblebee!

Ravage of course comes as his classic alt mode as well, an old style cassette. The update means that he now sports a transformation that is radically different from his original incarnation.

You begin Ravage’s transformation by unfolding his limbs from the front and back of the cassette mode. The small antenna on the upper right side is actually his tail.

You then continue to unfold the head and the thighs from back side of the cassette (opposite where the decepticon insignia is “)” then like origami, fold the sides of the cassette in different directions to orient the limbs into their proper position.

Viola, we have Ravage! The cool thing about this new incarnation is that it is the same size as the original, meaning it would fit into Soundwave’s deck player! Also cool is that the rear slots on his thighs will also fit the classic missile pods on the original Ravage!
Now onto Hound’s transformation!

You begin by removing Ravage (if you haven’t already) from Hound’s rear bed. Remember to fold in the nubs that are designed to hold Ravage in place. Also remove the holo projector weapon from the side seat on Hound’s cab. Also notice, that one of the seats’ has been folded down. This is actually rather cool; you can continue to fold both seats down which will later form his thighs!

You then continue to pull back on the lower half and straighten out the seats (now thighs) to complete hounds lower extremities. Also make sure to fold down the lower part of the rear bed to form his feet.

Here is Hound with the lower part all transformed, to begin the upper portion, you simply unlatch the front wheels from the sides of the vehicle and unfold the arms and rotate the fists from the inside panels of the lower arms.

Here is that step shown on one side. The lower picture shows the process completed.

All that’s left is to fold the front part of the jeep to complete the chest and reveal the Head. Then you’re done! Hound in robot mode! His robot mode is very cool! He has great balance (due in part to his large feet) but he comes together very – very nicely!

Hound is a great buy for a deluxe class! He is a testament to the outstanding engineering and quality that was put into the line. Hopefully, they continue with this process, and come out with even more cool updates of classic Transformers!
