Transformers Universe 2.0 Classics Hound + Ravage

Transfromers Universe 2.0 Hound w/ Ravage

Here is one of the newer Transformer releases in the Universe 2.0 Classics line, Hound and Ravage.

As TF aficionados know already know, Hound was one of the mainstays of the classics TF cartoon and toy line. Once a military jeep, hound has since had relatively few incarnations, of note was the Alternators / Binaltech line that saw Hound as a modern Jeep that transformed to a very cool robot mode.

This review is about Hounds latest remake from the Universe 2.0 Classics line.

Hound now comes as a deluxe class Transformer who is packaged in his alt mode. His alt mode this time around is a stylized military jeep which is reminiscent of his original design way back in the 80’s sans the die cast parts. Above as you can see, he is packed in with a small surprise, the Classics 2.0 representation of Soundwave’s loyal minion Ravage!

Hound minus Ravage

Let’s get things started off with hound. In his alt mode, you can see that he comes as a stylized jeep that has some very cool lines; he comes in a dull military green color with some blacks and very little whites. He’s rather nicely detailed and comes with seats as well as a detailed dash board.

Hound (underside)

Hound’s underside while in alt mode is surprisingly clean! Barely any visible robot kibble, I mean, of course it looks nothing like the underside of a jeep, but at least you don’t see the head, fists or any other discernable humanoid feature. So, he cleans up quite nicely as a jeep! Probably one of the better classics alt modes since Bumblebee!

Ravage

Ravage of course comes as his classic alt mode as well, an old style cassette. The update means that he now sports a transformation that is radically different from his original incarnation.

Ravage 2

You begin Ravage’s transformation by unfolding his limbs from the front and back of the cassette mode. The small antenna on the upper right side is actually his tail.

Ravage 3

You then continue to unfold the head and the thighs from back side of the cassette (opposite where the decepticon insignia is “)” then like origami, fold the sides of the cassette in different directions to orient the limbs into their proper position.

Ravage-Jaguar Mode

Viola, we have Ravage! The cool thing about this new incarnation is that it is the same size as the original, meaning it would fit into Soundwave’s deck player! Also cool is that the rear slots on his thighs will also fit the classic missile pods on the original Ravage!

Now onto Hound’s transformation!

Autobot Hound

You begin by removing Ravage (if you haven’t already) from Hound’s rear bed. Remember to fold in the nubs that are designed to hold Ravage in place. Also remove the holo projector weapon from the side seat on Hound’s cab. Also notice, that one of the seats’ has been folded down. This is actually rather cool; you can continue to fold both seats down which will later form his thighs!

Autobot Hound 2

You then continue to pull back on the lower half and straighten out the seats (now thighs) to complete hounds lower extremities. Also make sure to fold down the lower part of the rear bed to form his feet.

Autobot Hound 3

Here is Hound with the lower part all transformed, to begin the upper portion, you simply unlatch the front wheels from the sides of the vehicle and unfold the arms and rotate the fists from the inside panels of the lower arms.

Autobot HOund 4

Here is that step shown on one side. The lower picture shows the process completed.

Autobot Hound 5

All that’s left is to fold the front part of the jeep to complete the chest and reveal the Head. Then you’re done! Hound in robot mode! His robot mode is very cool! He has great balance (due in part to his large feet) but he comes together very – very nicely!

Autobot Hound Robot Mode

Hound is a great buy for a deluxe class! He is a testament to the outstanding engineering and quality that was put into the line. Hopefully, they continue with this process, and come out with even more cool updates of classic Transformers!

Sgt. KERORO in a DOUGHNUT

Feb 27

Out of sheer boredom, I decided to take a picture of one of my toys displayed in my desk… I like to call it Keroro in a Doughnut. Well literally this is what you get when you cross a Sgt. Keroro figure and a toy doughnut: Keroro in a doughnut!

Keroro and Donut

Wakekeke, I know its pure nonsense, but I guess I just find it very amusing how perfectly Keroro fits in the doughnut toy. he he he! Anyway life is too short to take it too seriously so, here it is, ENJOY!

Sadness Everywhere (Naruto and Gundam 00)

Feb 27

Ok I just finished watching Gundam 00 episode 20 and I must say, love is a very unacceptable reason to die! I wont add any spoilers in this post, but I just have to warn you guys to be prepared for another heart crushing development in the series.

Again, I must say, love is a very painful reason to say goodbye! Argh! And Gundam 00 once again communicates this idea in a very dramatic scene towards the end of the episode…

MG Sinanju – Skip Sazabi!!

Feb 25

For those planning to get a new MG Bandai kit, and you seem to be undecided as to which one? Well here is a word of Advice – go for the MG Sinanju!

mg-sinanju

It is a bit pricey, but it is worth it! I even advise this kit over Sazabi. I know Sazabi is a classic, everyone want to piece together an MG  Sazabi. But if the budget is a bit tight, and you want the best out of your hard earned money, then go for SINAJU!

Wakokokoko, this may sound sell out but I’m saying this out of the sheer love I have for the construction behind Sinanju. It also blows away its Universal Century opponent – Unicorn – with its easy to open hatches for the “full burst mode!”

Will give you guys a more extensive review in the future! For the meantime, heed my advice! He he he!

Perfect Grade Strike Gundam from Bandai

Feb 25

pg-strike-manual

It has been a busy January and February for me in terms of Gundam Kit making! Thanks to the influx of Gundam 00 kits for the past months!

As I said before, I have never been a fan of 1/100 non graded Bandai kits since it appears to be very hollow. But thanks to the changes in the new kits, they now resemble the earlier MG versions!

I also got hooked with the 00 kits because of the cool designs – hurray for the GN Drives!

Anyway, after the 00 kits, Sianju was next in line and believe me when I tell you that this is the BEST MG kit that any living Plamo fan can piece together!

pg-strike

And now, it is time to try my hand on a piece of Perfect Grade kits! And yes, my choice is PERFECT GRADE STRIKE!!!

But this is something that will not be rushed in any way!! I also have plans to repaint it with the Strike Noir colors!

So stick around, and I hope to get this project running ASAP! Peace!
